Squad 47 Responds to Main Line Mansion Fire

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 At 2:52PM, Squad 47 was dispatched to standby at Radnor Fire Company while units from Delaware County station 15 were operating at a 22,000+ square foot mansion fire on S. Ithan Avenue in Villanova. While enroute, the Squad was redirected to the fire scene and ordered to establish an additional 5 inch water supply line to the fire with Engine 24 (Gladwyne) & Delaware County Engine 56 (Manoa). Squad 47 laid approximately 900 feet of 5 inch hose supplying Quint 15 (Radnor) and Ladder 23 (Bryn Mawr), which were both operating their elevated water streams. Once the very large volume of fire was darkened down the crew members entered the dwelling engaging in fire suppression, overhaul, and salvage work for approximately five hours. Squad 47 and the 5 volunteers onboard were back in station on Beidler Road by 9:00PM.
