Rescue Training at the Firehouse Expo

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 On July 17th and 18th, two KPVFC members traveled to Baltimore City for hands-on training sessions hosted by the annual Firehouse Expo event. On Tuesday, fire fighter Rob Griffith and Lieutenant Bill Elder participated in eight hours of advanced vehicle extrication training instructed by Ron Moore, a retired McKinney (TX) Fire Department Training Chief and internationally recognized vehicle rescue instructor. On Wednesday, they were challenged with eight more hours of training in stabilizing and lifting heavy vehicles for rescue operations. Wednesday was instructed by Captain Robert Morris from FDNY Rescue 1 and Billy Leach, instructor of the "Big Rig Rescue" program. Despite the intense summer heat, both members brought back enhanced skills and knowledge to share with the rest of the fire company.
