King of Prussia fire fighters responded to two incidents last Thursday. The first was to the VIMCO company on Hansen Access Road in station 49’s district. Chief 47 (Jenaway) arrived and received reports of a machine on fire with medium smoke conditions. A crew from Squirt 49 was assigned to investigate. FM-56 (Waters) assisted the maintenance staff with shutdown of utilities and the machine. The assigned crew assured the fire was out and provided ventilation.
Later in the day crews were called to YSC Sports on County Line Road where a contractor struck a gas line while excavating for a walking trail. Gas accumulations were found along the west side of the structure, at the crossroads of two side streets, as well as near the electrical equipment for several cell tower sites. Utility crews responded within 30 minutes and required firefighters to wet-down the area and provide protection via handlines while the leak was capped. The businesses in the area were disrupted for approximately 1 hour.
At approximately 8 PM storms rolled through the area resulting in rain, damaging winds, and reported hail. Several additional calls were handled for wires arcing, transformer fires and a vehicle accident assist.
