Vehicle Fire on the Interstate

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Around mid-afternoon the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a vehicle on fire in the area of I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and North Gulph Road. Chief Jenaway arrived and reported an automobile with fire in the engine compartment at the I-76 Eastbound off ramp to North Gulph Road. Squad 47 arrived first placing the front bumper line in service to knock the fire. Engine 47-2 arrived shortly after the Squad and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. It should be noted this was the first time one of the KPVFC probationary fire fighters, Bianca DeLuca, operated the nozzle at an actual fire. Under the direction of senior fire fighter Bob Smull, Bianca did an excellent job following orders and operating at the scene as she progresses with her training.
