At 4pm Montgomery County Dispatch Center alerted the KPVFC with an engine to transfer to Spring Mill Fire Company (Station 45) in Whitemarsh Township while they were operating at a dwelling fire. Squad 47 responded and paired up with neighboring Swedeland Fire Company who were requested with the Ladder Company for the same. While on the cover assignment, Squad 47 and Ladder 48 were dispatched for a rescue. The crews arrived to find a tree trimmer on a high lift stuck in the air after his hydraulics broke. Due to the fact that Ladder 48 could not make the long driveway and with the worker in no harm, the decision was made to wait for a light duty, utility style, bucket truck. The bucket truck arrived, accessed the driveway and was able to successfully rescue the worker. Both companies cleared the stand-by and were back in Upper Merion Township around 8pm.
This call marks the 23rd in a one week period, with the majority occurring earlier in the week. Stand-bys were covered in Whitemarsh Township, Norristown Borough and Easttown Township, Chester County with an assist in West Norriton Township for a building fire. Oh, and did anyone hear Hurricane Sandy is coming? More to follow……
