NOV 9, 2009 - The Institute of Fire Engineers has approved Chief William C. Daywalt Jr. as a certified professional in the field of fire engineering.  The Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) was founded in 1918, with headquarters in the United Kingdom and a subsidiary within the United States.  The Institution’s objective is to promote, encourage and improve the science and practice of Fire Extinction, Fire Prevention and Fire Engineering.  Chief Daywalt met stringent admissions requirements and criteria including academic qualifications, professional qualifications and fire service qualifications to qualify for membership.  Chief Daywalt joins 12,000 members worldwide in 29 countries who promote the study and development of the fire engineering discipline.  There are six levels of membership; (1) being the entry level and (6) being the advanced level.  Each level denotes a higher degree of qualification; Chief Daywalt is recognized at Level 5 allowing him to use the professional designation of “MIFireE”.   

NOV 7, 2009 - The King of Prussia VFC hosted the 59th annual awards banquet within the fire company banquet hall.  Joe Morris Sr. received the Thorpe, Glauner & Fiorentine Award given by the Auxillary; Eliott Grace received the KPVFC Scholarship Award; Jim Gallagher received the Lifetime Service Award; Gary Grashaw received the Fire Police Award and the President's Award; Steve Geltman and Carl Pinto received the Resident Supporter Award; George Nikolaou recieved the Business Supporter Award; Andy Culp and Mark Thomas received the Attendance Award; Vince DiSanto received the Fire Safety Education Award; Tyler Sandlin received the Jr. Firefighter of the Year Award; Tom Henry received the Rookie of the Year Award; Lisa Menago and Bob Rudzinski received the Chaplin's Award; Fred Reigel received the Chief Engineer's Award; Marty Menago received the Firefighter of the Year Award; Mike Sherlock and Mark Forster received the Chief's Award.

SEPT 23, 2009 - The Pennsylvania State Firemen's Association has recognized the King of Prussia VFC's Fire Prevention and Life Safety Education Program at the State Firemen's Convention in King of Prussia, PA.  The fire company has received recognition from the state association for the 14th consective year.   This award could not have been achieved without the dedication of all the members to promote life safety and fire prevention education!

AUG 28, 2009 - The International Association of Fire Chiefs has recongized the KPVFC Fire Prevention and Life Safety Education Program at the Fire Rescue International Conference held in Dallas, Texas.  The fire co was one of the seven recipients to receive the US Safety Engineering Award for Excellence.  The KPVFC would like to congratulate the other six recipients.   

JULY 8, 2009 - Fire Chief William Daywalt of the King of Prussia VFC has successfully completed the process that awards him the professional designation of “Chief Fire Officer” (CFOD).  The Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) met  to officially confer the designation upon Chief Daywalt. Chief Daywalt is one of only 660 CFO’s worldwide.  The process includes an assessment of the applicant’s education, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions to the profession, and community involvement. In addition, All applicants are required to identify a future professional development plan.

JUNE 1, 2009 - The King of Prussia VFC has release the 2008 Annual Operations Report.  The fire company has been serving the Upper Merion Township Community proudly for 58 years.  The fire co is a all-volunteer fire department which operates out of two fire stations located on Allendale Road and West Beidler Road.  The fire co currently has 93 active volunteer members and maintains fleet of 10 pieces of apparatus.  The operating budget for the year was $349,250.  The fire company responded to 624 emergency incidents and provided over 19,000 hours of volunteer fire and rescue services to the community.  Throughout the year, the fire co received recognition from Department of Health and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner for meeting “Advanced” Level Rescue  competency and capabilities;  the Office of the State Fire Commissioner of Pennsylvania for meeting accomplishments in training and education, which meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards and for having 75% of the membership meeting these training standards; the Center of Public Safety Excellence, Inc. accepted by the fire company’s annual compliance report which affirms the professional commitment of the fire company and its members to provide quality fire and rescue services to the citizens of Upper Merion Township;  and the fire company’s fire prevention and life safety educational program received a First place award from the Fireman’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania
