Gallagher arrived and established the Brower Road Command.nbsp Chief Gallagher having knowledge of this site and its history with previous fires immediately requested assistance from Delaware County station 15 Radnor.nbsp From this point spanforward over the next few hours numerous Brush Trucks Water Tankers and Engine Companies special called for manpower were requested to bring the fire under control.nbsp Due to this being a large wildland type fire a hefty contingent of firefighting labor was utilized to provide overhaul even after the upper hand was gained and control of the fire accomplished.nbsp The centers 90 acre wooded preserve provided many challenges for the firefighters.nbsp It is surrounded by residential neighborhoods as well as a public elementary school.nbsp The fire which appears to have started at the southeast entrance along Brower Road quickly spread up past the ldquofire roadrdquo and along the Monkey Rock area.nbsp The high winds then spread the fire easterly past Laurel Trail towards King of Prussia Road.nbsp Fearing the fire would jump King of Prussia Road firefighting crews were quickly assembled to hold the fire at this point.nbsp It is estimated the fire consumed about 12 to 14 acres.nbsp In all approximately 15 volunteers from KPVFC operated for 4 hours on the scene.nbsp The mutual aid fire companies included Swedeland SD48 Swedesburg SQ49 Radnor Delco. 15 for numerous units Berwyn Chesco. 2 Lower Providence Montco. 53 for numerous units Valley Forge Chesco. 68 for numerous units members of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry amp the Lafayette Ambulance Squad for ALS amp Firefighter Rehabilitation support.opopspanp
