Our free smoke alarm program has been a vital initiative of our prevention efforts for several years. While we still find properties with no alarms or have fires in properties with our alarms, the benefits of this program are immeasurable. There are countless first hand accounts of our alarms providing critical early detection to unsafe conditions.
These alarms are provided and installed free of charge. If any resident needs smoke alarms in their home, please contact the Upper Merion Township Fire and EMS Department Smoke Alarm Hotline at 484-636-3945 to make a request. Once the call is received, a member of our team will contact you to schedule the installation date and time.
The mission of the Fire Prevention Division Public Education program is to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fires, medical emergencies, environmental, and other disasters. One of the ways we accomplish this is through education in schools, homes, and businesses. The promotion of fire and life safety initiatives throughout our community is a vital part in the prevention of injuries and deaths related to fires and other emergencies. We will actively participate in our community, serve as role models, and strive to effectively and efficiently utilize all of the necessary available resources to provide a product deemed excellent by our citizens.
Fire and Life Safety awareness programs focus on fire prevention, life safety issues and hazards in the home and workplace. Programs are targeted to age-appropriate audiences for the material being presented. The Public Education personnel offer a wide array of programs throughout our community. Programs are offered from pre-k through grade 12 annually. Training are held for day care and businesses on emergency action plans and fire safety by request.
Our staff attend many community events throughout the year providing important safety information. Special emphasis programs and or training may be available upon request. For further information on programs available contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 610-205-8554.
