On Thursday, March 23 a crew of five King of Prussia volunteers traveled to the Montgomery County Fire Academy with Rescue 47 for the Montgomery County Training Officers Association Meeting. Deputy Chief Bill Elder gave a short train-the-trainer presentation to the group of training officers with the assistance of Firefighters Joe Lunger, Ben Williams, Chris Montero, and Mike Massaad. The presentation focused on vehicle rescue techniques to use when challenged by cars built with ultra-high strength steels. The crew also practiced a total side removal where both doors and the B-pillar are removed from the car in one evolution. This was also the first time the company’s new Hurst hydraulic hose lines and rams were put in service. The new equipment was purchased with a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant. Thanks to the Montgomery County Training Officers Association for the invitation.
